Summer Photography Contest
The contest is open to all incoming 3rd - 8th grade students.
Enter STM’s Summer Photography Contest and earn the chance to win a Visa Gift Card and other amazing prizes. Students can enter up to three photos.
Students may submit photos in the following categories:
Nature & Landscapes - These pictures include landscapes, flowers, outdoor scenic, nature images, sunsets, urban landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and farms - to name a few. These images showcase outdoor beauty.
Travel - This category can include landscapes, outdoor scenic, nature images, urban landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, people, details... any subject you might encounter while traveling, as long as the photo expresses a sense of PLACE.
Animals - These contest entries are images of all kinds of animals. They can be pictures of pets - dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, birds, reptiles, amphibians - as well as photos of wildlife, zoo life, farm / domesticated animals, and even insects.
People - These are pictures of people from all walks of life - parenting and family, children, cute baby pics, couples and relationships, models/fashion, people engaged in fun outdoor activities, etc.
Sports Action – Capture athletes in action and the spirit of competition.
Before you take any pictures, review the following tips:
Sharp focus: This will help show details of the subject.
Outstanding composition: Whether it is symmetrical or asymmetrical, the composition needs to be well thought-out.
Vibrant colors: In some cases, vibrant colors will help to draw the judges' attention.
Excellent contrast: Good contrast is important, especially in black and white images.
Beautiful lighting: Good lighting doesn't always mean the use of a bright flash, but does mean that the piece has good lighting on the subject.
Pleasing background: A cluttered or unattractive background can be a distraction.
Interesting subject: An interesting subject will help to increase the overall appearance of the photo.
The 2022 Photo Contest will begin on June 1, 2023, and run through August 31, 2023. All photos will be submitted electronically to Mrs. Felton at jfelton@stmorenews.com. The contest is open to all incoming 3rd - 8th grade students.
