C.A.R.E

Christian Action Really Evident, C.A.R.E, is an organization, which strives to meet the needs of the elderly and those in difficult situations. This includes: Funeral luncheons, transportation, meals to families in need, Christmas Giving Tree, home care and babysitting referrals, financial aid, home repairs, luncheons and masses for the elderly, and advent supply sales. C.A.R.E. operates on parishioner donations. A newsletter informs the parish of our activities. Meetings are the first Monday of each month in the rectory-meeting hall and all are invited to attend. To learn more or to join please contact Nancy Gleason at 962-1354.

Legion of Mary

Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization of Catholics who offers services to Father Jack Siefert to aid him in performing spiritual works of the parish. This is done by placing ourselves under the banner of Mary so that we may develop a greater holiness in their own lives, as well as spread a deeper devotion to Mary, among others. The legion helps in parish mailings, census calls and specific cases calls, along with distributing packages to new parishioners in coordination with the Welcoming committee. Members of the Legion say the rosary at 7:40 am every morning before Mass (Mon-Sat, May and Oct). This group meets every Wednesday following the 8:00am Mass in the rectory basement. We would love to have new members, to join or get more information please contact George Jost at info@stmmchurch.com.

Pro-Life

The Pro-Life committee in our parish works to promote the sanctity of life in all stages from conception to natural death. We are very fortunate to have an extremely active and well-organized Archdiocesan Pro-Life committee guide our efforts. We are an active committee, but do not have regular meetings. We meet as needed usually about 2 times a year. We carry out our ministry in the following ways:

Prayer - There is a special program called "Intercessors for Life" that attempts to coordinate 24 hours a day of prayer throughout the Archdiocese. People who wish to participate in the program commit to 1/2 hour of prayer per week at a specific time. For more information on this program contact Carrie Parent at info@stmmchurch.com.

Legislation - our parish phone tree is activated from a directive from the Archdiocese Pro-Life committee, usually about 3-4 times a year. People who are part of our phone tree are contacted by a post card from our parish committee and directed with a message for legislator. Information about who to contact (home number etc.) is provided.
Social Outreach - Each year our Pro-Life committee adopts a Birthright mother. We help her financially, with prayer, and have a baby shower for her in the spring.

Education - Our parish school is involved with our Birthright mother each year. They receive news of her when available, pray for her and have a baby shower for her when the baby is due. Each October our 7th and 8th graders stand outside an abortion clinic and recite the rosary. The 8th grade submits essays on chastity, which our committee judges and awards a $100.00 prize to the winner.

Fund Raising - We raise funds for our committee by having a bedding plant sale each spring. Funds are raised for our Birthright mother by collecting pocket change in baby bottles each October.

Some ways to get involved are: pray for life, become a committee member, be a part of our phone tree, or be an on call volunteer for an occasional need such as collecting or distributing at a specific Mass, helping stuff bulletins, helping with the plant sale, judging essays, etc.

St. Vincent De Paul

The members of this organization are actively involved with helping the needy of our parish community. The members help with job assistance, food, and utilities. Financial support comes from donations of those who wish to help those in less fortunate situations. Meetings are held every Monday at 7pm in the rectory meeting room. For more information on joining please contact Fred Weckenmann at 918-0669.

Martha Ministry

The Martha ministry is composed of a group of ladies of the parish who send a meal to the rectory on Monday and Tuesday of each week for the Priests to sit down and enjoy together. This ministry began back in 1995 and the cook at that time retired.

There are approximately 45 women who make and send the meals, and we take our turn about every 5 to 6 months. We send an entree, salad, and a vegetable. We take the meal to the rectory about 4:30-4:45pm. You do not have to stay and serve, the Priests do the rest.

The Martha's have no age limit to join. Currently about 70% of our ladies are 70 years plus and we are definitely looking for younger women, and even men to join our group. If you are interested please contact Sue Barrale at 961-9968.

St. Patrick Casserole

When there is a 5th Saturday of the month a group of parishioners each makes a chicken casserole for the St. Patrick Center in St. Louis. It's very simple as the Center provides both the recipe and the pans. On Saturday morning the casseroles are delivered to the St. Patrick Center. If you would like to help with the making of the casseroles or the delivery to St. Patrick Center please contact Pat Roache at info@stmmchurch.com.

A copy of the recipe is available HERE.
