Welcome to 5th Grade!!
My name is Lisa Priest and I am very happy to be one of your child's 5th Grade teachers. I am currently in my 17th year of teaching. I began my teaching career in 1994 after graduating from Bellarmine University with a dual BA in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). My first teaching position was at Watson Lane Elementary in Jefferson County where I taught students with Learning & Behavior Disorders for 5 years. After completing my first year of teaching, in November of 1995 I married my high school sweetheart, Noah Priest. We will be celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary this year! Shortly before the birth of our first child in June of 1999, I earned my Masters in Education for Elementary School Counseling from the University of Louisville. After having our daughter, Jordyn, I stayed home for a year. I returned to teaching in the fall of 2000 at St. Leonard where I taught 1st Grade. Leaving my daughter proved to be too hard, so I decided not to return to St. Leonard the following school year. I remained a stay-at-home mom for several years until my son, Cameron, was in school at St. Margaret Mary. I was then fortunate enough to obtain a position at SMM teaching 5th grade. My dream of teaching at my children's school had come true! Both of my children have since graduated from SMM. My daughter is a sophomore at Bellarmine University majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology and my son is a junior at Trinity High School. This is my 11th year teaching 5th Grade at SMM. I feel very blessed to be at St. Margaret Mary and to have the opportunity to teach your child!
