-We chose our country for Kids Around the World.  I think the kids are excited about the one they received!  We drew countries randomly so everyone would have an equal-opportunity learning experience.  This project is due on Monday, February 13th, and the presentation is on Wednesday, February 15th.

-On Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14th, we will be having a small, in-class celebration.  In addition to bringing cards and/or treat bags for ALL 20 of their classmates, they may bring a small snack to share in class as well.  They may bring a decorated shoe box, bag or milk jug to hold their Valentines on Monday the 13th or 14th.

-Six Flags Great America Read to Succeed sheets went home on 1/5/17.  The kiddos DO NOT need to read any additional time...you may simply count the required 360 minutes for January and Voila!  Due February 22nd.

November will be the first month that we will be doing book reports.  It will be due on Thursday, December 1st.  The rubric will be attached on the back of the assignment sheet.  Students are welcome to use the book that they are using for their November reading calendar for their book report book.

In case you haven't checked it out, please take a look at my website (listed below).  I have posted on it what our weekly focuses are in the various subject areas.  I also update the homework on there nightly (when possible!).

November is a very busy month, with the end of the trimester and conferences and all.  Please be sure to sign up for a conference as soon as the schedule is posted (should be by the end of the week) so we can meet to discuss the progress of your child!

This Friday, November 11 is JA in a Day.  A Junior Achievement volunteer will be in to run this program from 10-2pm that day.  Report cards will be sent home on November 17th, and conferences will be held on Monday, November 21st after a half-day of school for the kiddos.

Please note that our third graders will be leading the Thanksgiving Celebration Mass on Friday the 18th. It would be wonderful to have the majority of you all there!  I will be designating roles for the children, and be assured that if they don't have a part this time, I will be sure to assign them a role of importance in the future!  We lead another Mass in both April and May.

In accordance with our Catholic beliefs, we will have the opportunity to write greeting cards to the residents at Addolorata Villa who may not be fortunate enough to have relatives nearby this holiday season.  My class will be writing Thanksgiving cards for the residents.  What a neat opportunity to show our creativity and holiday spirit!

As always, if you have any concerns at all, please reach out to me at cgarcia@stmarybg.org.
Hoping to see you all at the Jingle Jubilee next Saturday night!
Have a wonderful extended weekend, and Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs!!
