Sacramental Preparation

To Saint Martha Catholic School Students 2nd Grade & Older

Information about 1st Reconciliation (Confession) & 1st Eucharist (Communion)

As we begin a new school year, many parents have questions or concerns about their child celebrating 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist. Sacraments are an important part of the Catholic faith; a unique opportunity to encounter the Risen Christ. Sacraments are celebrated in the parish church, not as part of enrollment in school. The sacrament process is open to families who practice their Catholic faith.

If your family attends Sunday Catholic Mass, you are invited to enroll your child in the sacrament preparation process. Enrollment and focused preparation for these sacraments are administered through the Faith Formation Office of St. Martha. Registration for Sacrament Preparation is going on now in the Faith Formation Office.  A copy of your child’s Baptismal certificate is required to register. (If baptized at St. Martha, we can look up the record).

Families who have a different faith tradition should contact their home church about celebration of communion in their own faith. If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church or Sacrament of Baptism, you are invited to contact the Faith Formation Office at 281-358-1959.

Prior to attending one of the initial parent sacrament meetings, your child must be registered for Sacrament Preparation with the Faith Formation Office.

Eligibility Requirements to enter the sacramental program are:

  • The child must be in the second grade or above.

  • The child must be baptized.

  • The child must have attended one previous year of religion.

(Catholic School or Catechesis/CCE)

  • Parents are willing to attend meetings & assist their child in the preparation.

  • The family has made a commitment to attend Catholic Mass on Sundays.

If you have eligibility questions or other concerns, please feel free to contact the Faith Formation Office at 281-713-8969.
