Reflection
Have you ever been lost in the woods (or on a road trip without a compass or Google Maps? Remember how alone and helpless that feeling was?
If you're at all like me, you probably didn't stop to ask for directions or seek help from a stranger. If you're like me, you looked for the nearest landmark or tried to retrace your path. One way or another, when we try to figure it out on our own, we often end up in a more complicated predicament.
Being personally responsible for "finding our way home" is a noble attribute, but the rise in secularism in the past 30 years has clouded the sky with false North Stars. We're more easily confused if we don't use True North as our bearing point. Having faith in God as our True North is a valuable re-centering necessity.
If your way seems a little uncertain, maybe it's time to reorient your compass. We'd love to have you join us and find out. You're welcome here!

Verse
"Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
Faith is so important because, in one way or another, we are all beset with weakness, poverty, and difficulties in life. If we had no faith, how could we have hope?

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Our world grows increasingly secular, promoting individuality over the common good. Help us to persevere, to increase our faith in You. Grant us strength in the midst of weakness, joy in times of sorrow and peace in our troubled world. Bless us with forgiveness, peace, and Your Spiritual True North.

"We wish to confirm once more that the task of evangelizing all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church. It is a task and mission which the vast and profound changes of present-day society make all the more urgent. Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper of the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelize."
--from Pope Paul VI's letter on "Evangelization in the Modern World"

Welcome to St. Katharine Drexel Parish! Our parish was founded in 2004, and we moved into our new church and school in 2008.  The majority of our parishioners live on the west side of Sioux Falls, and others live in the surrounding countryside or other areas of Sioux Falls.  We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive parish where no one would feel like a stranger for very long.

At St. Katharine Drexel Parish, our most important activity is the celebration of the weekend Eucharistic liturgies and other sacraments.  We also have a heavy emphasis on faith formation for children, young people, and adults. In response to the call of Jesus and the example of St. Katharine Drexel, we are also involved in many social ministries in our community, especially service to those who lack material resources.

We always welcome visitors to our church, those who join us for liturgy and those who just want to drop by for a quiet prayer.  If you have no church family with whom to pray, please join us.

Are you new to our parish? We would love to have you become an active part of our faith community! Please stop after Mass and introduce yourself to Fr. Tschakert. He will give you a card of introduction to fill out. Or, you can request more information, ask a question or have someone contact you by filling out the simple form here. Welcome!
