St. Joachim School Family Calendar

St. Joachim School

From The Principal's Desk...

Dear SJS Families,

Hope you are having a great summer!

With the conclusion of our summer session (120 enrolled students!) we now continue with the work of schools (maintenance, upgrading, etc...) that takes place during the summer. I would like to highlight one such project

The entire plant is undergoing a complete replacement of lighting. We are switching to energy efficient LED lighting. This replacement will reduce our electrical usage by 65%! This in keeping with our dedication to Pope Francis' encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si, which you can access HERE. This is the first step of many as the school continues to work in word and action to become better stewards of God's creation.

A couple other news items...

Remember that this Saturday is the uniform sale being held in the gym from 9am-noon. Also this is the day of the annual parish picnic. Think about heading to the picnic after your shopping at the uniform sale. The picnic is being held at Kennedy Park...right down the street!

The Bay Area will experience an 80% solar eclipse on August 21st, the first day of school! This is a very rare event. Though not the extreme experience of a total eclipse (starting in the USA on the Oregon coast this time) there will still be a dramatic change, especially if it is a clear and sunny day. The school is preparing to "experience" this together. It is a learning opportunity and a very exciting way to spend some time on the first day of school! More info to come.

Have a great summer!
