Mrs. Corcoran

Welcome to First Grade!

I want to extend a warm welcome to you and your child. My name is Mrs. Corcoran and I will be the first grade teacher this year. Mrs. Mravintz and Ms. Barnes will once again be the first grade aides. I am very excited to be returning to such a wonderful school and community and I eagerly look forward to teaching your child this year! I have a strong Catholic background and look forward to sharing my faith with your child. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where I received a B.A. in English Literature, a B.A. in History, and a Specialty Certificate in Children’s Literature. I then went on to receive my Masters in the Art of Teaching (MAT) in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh. After a year of substitute teaching I began working at St. Gregory's and I have loved our St. Gregory "family" and school ever since! In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing tennis, rooting for all of our Pittsburgh sports teams, and spending time with my family and friends. My favorite color is blue, my favorite food is cheese, and my favorite season is fall. I especially love board game night and anything Disney :)

My philosophy of teaching is that every child is unique and each child learns in a different way. One of my responsibilities as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. I am really looking forward to a fun-filled and educational year! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by e-mail at or by telephone through the school office.

I know this will be a year full of fun, learning, and growing.

Let's ''have a ball" learning this year!
