About Our Class

  • Art Class Information
Greetings St. Gilbert students and parents. I welcome you to my art room.  I would like to introduce myself and my website to you.  I am Mr. Maday, the art teacher for St. Gilbert students K-3, 7th and 8th grade classes. I am proud to be at St. Gilbert and continue the art education of the students.

I have discussed with each class the grading scale, rules of the classroom and expectations with them.  I want to extend to the parents the same understanding.  It is my intent to make my time with the students as beneficial as possible.

With regard to grading, I make it clear with students that God gives each of us different talents or gifts.  Not every student is given a talent for art, but they can use other talents such as writing and organizational talents and be part of an art team that produces commercial artwork, such as product advertising.  I want my students to that they should try their best in art and work independently.  Some students are concerned that their art is being compared to another student's work for their grade.  That is not the case.  I expect students to make a great effort, always give 100% and be respectful to themselves and one another during class.  Students must earn their grade, I do not give them their grades.  If a student turns in their work after the due date, they will drop one letter grade.

I have many exciting projects planned for the 2017-2018 school year.  I will provide all the students with an environment of creativity and the spirit of God in our classroom.  It will not only be educational, but also a fun experience where they are encouraged to use their imagination.

I will provide a link from this website to to my Google Website called "Mr. Maday's Art Room", where students will have a tab dedicated to St. Gilbert School in order to view projects and some students completed artwork.
