The main purpose of this course is to provide students with a solid foundation in the physics of electricity, magnetism, and their relationship to each other. Topics include electrostatics, capacitors and dielectrics, electric circuits, magnetic fields, and electromagnetism. Since it is an AP class, it is also designed to prepare students for the College Board's exam on the topic, which is administered in May. Successfully passing the AP Physics C exam, whether in Electricity and Magnetism or Mechanics, will generally earn students college credit for courses in those areas, even at the most prestigious schools.
