Mediasite


How will Mediasite work?

  • A request for recording will be made on the VirtualEMS room reservation system
  • Mediasite generates an email with a video link PRIOR to the start of your event
  • Link will be sent to requester approximately 1 hour before the event
  • Link reminds you that event is going to be recorded and allows you to publish the link prior to event.
  • Normally, the link will become active approximately 3-4 hours after your event is finished. 
  • Our Service Level Agreement (SLA) only confirms the availability of the event recording within two business days after the event’s end time.
  • Stern IT and CITL will assist faculty to get a link to their class Mediasite portal into NYU Classes.
  • Content will be available on-line for one calendar year from the date the class session or event was held.  


What devices can view Mediasite content?

  • Mediasite will work on PC or Mac computers with any web-browser that supports HTML5.
  • Mediasite is available on most mobile devices.

How do I request my class or special event be recorded?

  • Use the VirtualEMS system to request your class or special event be recorded

How will I be notified when recording is available?

  • You will receive an email containing the link to the recording about an hour before event begins.  The link will not work until approximately 3 - 4 hours after the event ends.

Can multiple people be notified (eg. TA/GA)? What is the process?

  • Yes, multiple people can be set-up to receive notifications, including the link, for a recording.  Please contact Stern IT Helpdesk to make this request.

When can I expect my course/special event link to be sent to me?

  • Approximately one hour before your event is scheduled to begin you will receive an email with the link to the event recording.  The recording link will not work until approximately 3 - 4 hours after the event.

How do I share recording with my students? With event attendees?

  • You can share the event link with your students or event attendees via email or NYU Classes. 
  • All recordings are password protected for NYU Stern account access unless specially requested otherwise.  To request a recording be open to the public, contact the Stern IT Helpdesk.
Is there any way to share recordings with non-Stern folks?

What is the retention policy for classroom recordings?

  • Lecture capture recordings are kept online (via on-demand streaming) for one calendar year from the date of capture.
  • Class recordings are available to view online through the NYU Classes or via direct links provided by the faculty.

What is the retention policy for special event recordings?

  • Special Event recordings are kept online (via on-demand streaming) for one calendar year from the date of capture.
