The mission of Sterling College is "to combine structured academic study with experiential challenges and plain hard work to build responsible problem solvers who become stewards of the environment as they pursue productive lives."
We believe that service strongly reinforces our mission by offering our students the opportunity to put their hands and minds to work in productive ways. Not only can service benefit our community partners, but it also gives our students a unique chance to learn outside the classroom. Sterling offers courses with structured service-learning, service-based positions within the work program, and regular volunteer service events. From gleaning vegetables with the VT Foodbank to teaching grade-schoolers how to plant seeds, service opportunities abound at Sterling.
