HM 451 - Advanced Independent Study in Humanities
400-level independent studies have been designed for second-semester juniors and students in their senior year. These courses are meant to provide opportunities for upper-level students to build on substantial experience in a given area and conduct an in-depth exploration of a topic in their area of study. Students are expected to work with their advisors to develop detailed plans, learning outcomes, and assessment rubrics. Students may earn between 3 and 6 credits for a 400-level independent study and should plan to spend about 30 hours per credit earned. All 400-level Independent Studies must be approved by the faculty member directly advising the study and submitted to the Dean of the College one week before the last day of the semester preceding the one in which the student plans to enroll in an Independent Study. There will be no exceptions to this deadline.
