About Mrs. Anderson

Hello and welcome to 5th grade!

I am excited to once again be a 5th grade teacher at St. Cecilia School.  My name is Rita Anderson and the 2011-2012 school year will be my fifth year teaching at St. Cecilia. My husband and I have lived in Ames for almost five years.   Prior to living in Ames, my husband and I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska.   While living there, I worked in special education with the Lincoln Public Schools.  I worked with  individual students in a classroom setting.

My husband teaches  Painting, Drawing, and Art Appreciation courses at Des Moines Area Community College, Boone campus.  He also works at American Packaging Company in Story City in the Graphics Department.  We have one daughter, Cora, who is 2 years old and expecting our second child at the end of July.

I was born and raised on a small Iowa farm outside of Salix, Iowa which is 12 miles south of Sioux City.   I attended both Iowa State University and graduated from Briar Cliff University.

When I'm not busy working; I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, journaling, and spending time with my family and extended family.
