Since the move to Google there have been questions about the use of certain Google products and policy decisions related to Google. Here are a few of the items we have been asked about:
Resources: All shared resources such as conference rooms are now available for all state employees to view and book. We understand that some departments want to hide or block their resources from other agencies. However, there are long term implications to this decision that still need to be evaluated.
Retention Period: We are working with Agency IT Directors on the best way to implement a retention policy for each agency and the divisions within those agencies.
Google Apps: Mail, Calendar and Contacts in Google are available to all state employees whose agency has made the move to Google. Individual agencies can request via the service desk whether or not they would like other Google Applications turned on or off for their agency.
Google+: Google+ has some outstanding features and increases the functionality of chat tremendously. We will be evaluating turning this product on some time in the near future. We are still evaluating the product as it relates to our business needs.
Sites: Sites has some outstanding features and increases the functionality of the Google product tremendously. We will be evaluating turning on this product after the State Go Live. We are currently evaluating the product as it relates to our business needs.
All of these topics are being considered and we will make you aware of any decisions once they have been made.
