Laura Morsch-Babu
DENVER (July 14, 2016) – The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) announced today that Laura Morsch-Babu will be the Department’s new Communications Director.

Morsch-Babu had previously served as Director of Public Affairs and Community Outreach for Colorado HealthOP, a startup health insurance cooperative. She led a seven-person in-house marketing and outreach team there, and was the organization’s spokeswoman.

“Laura brings a breadth of experience to the Department that will help us refine and expand the ways in which we communicate with the public, our employees and those who have particular interests in our work,” said Alicia Caldwell, CDHS Deputy Executive Director for Communications and Legislative Affairs. “We’re so happy to have her coming on board.”

Along with her work at Colorado HealthOP, Morsch-Babu had been an associate at Mercer, a human resources consulting firm in Chicago, where she created and executed communication strategies for clients that focused on workforce needs. She also was an assistant manager of corporate communications at CareerBuilder in Chicago.

“I am honored to join the CDHS team,” Morsch-Babu said. “The Department is doing extraordinary work to improve the safety and independence of Coloradans, and I look forward to helping CDHS amplify and educate the public about those initiatives.”

Morsch-Babu has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, and a master’s degree in public policy from University of California-Berkeley.

Her first day at CDHS will be Monday, July 18.
