Art to Art

Art to Self

Art to World

We look forward to having you join us
May 8th 2018, when we celebrate our creative efforts exhibiting our work at the All School WP Annual Art Show & Ice Cream Social!
There will be Art, Ice Cream, Books, and of course, the Wilshire Park Community! What could be better?!!

Wilshire artists will be studying and creating Art in the studio at Wilshire Park this year, Monday through Friday, with our theme based on the wisdom of Leonardo da Vinci, who said,
"Realize that everything connects to everything else."
 Making a Connection!
Leonardo Da Vinci, his fellow Renaissance Artists, as well as Picasso, Matisse, Mary Cassatt, Faith RingGold, Romero Britto, and many more will inspire our approach to creating landscapes, portraits, still-life, sketchbooks, the study of nature, and practices and purposes of an education in Art.

The study of these artists will develop our ability to think creatively, distinguish similarities and differences, produce, understand, appreciate, and discuss past and contemporary art contributions. We will look at connections made in Fine Art, Graphic Design, and contemporary Illustration.

Wilshire Park's Elementary Art Program is discipline based.  The four disciplines are Art History, Art Criticism, Aesthetics, and Art Production.
The Design Elements of Line, Shape and Form, Color,  Texture, Space, and Value will be introduced in 1st Grade,  reinforced in 2nd Grade, and reviewed and developed in  3rd Grade. Our 4th and 5th Grade artists will continue to  use these elements along with The Design Principles to  create art work using a variety of art mediums and  approaches to Art and Design! Art lessons are designed to  meet Minnesota Art Standards as well as address the National Standards in Art.
