Welcome to Room 1A
2023-2024
.The school day has a flexible schedule with Reading, Math, Religion, Writing , Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. We attend daily special classes: Music, Art, Gym, Library, and Computer. We have a snack time, lunch and a recess period everyday. Snack time is in the afternoon, approximately 2:30. Students need to bring in a small snack and drink, teachers do not provide food.
Our 2022 Specials Schedule:
Monday Computer
Tuesday Gym
Wednesday Music
Thursday Art
Friday Library
Supplies:
Please refer to the 1st grade Supply List for necessary items. Bring in your supplies on the 1st day of school--LABELED with your child's name. This year we will be sharing our pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks and journals. It is preferable to purchase your journals from the school, as we work together on writing, we can demonstrate more effectively on the same journal.
Snack:
Every day your student needs to bring with them a small snack: pretzels and juice, apple and water, etc. If they do not bring a snack, they will still be allowed to socialize and have a break.
Please send in 1 full water bottle daily, however, we may refill the bottles with filtered water at our water bottle station located in our hallway. The station worked beautifully last year!
Lunch Time and Recess:
Don't forget to pack a lunch or order from our monthly healthy & tasty lunch menu! We eat lunch at 11:15 than go out to recess together. Our children eat lunch and then go outside for recess everyday. Remember to dress for the weather!
Communication Folders and Homework:
Every day your student should bring home a regular 2 pocket folder. Please try to look through the folder with your child every night. Work that was completed during the day is included, as well as homework and classroom announcements. Please include transportation notes, or any communication in this folder. Your student is responsible for emptying it every morning when they get to school.
This year I am saving time by not posting our homework online, nor asking the students to copy it down. I will make sure each of your children place homework pages, including weekly spelling lists, in the "return'" labeled pocket of their home folder. Due dates for homework will be marked by the students at the top (most pages are due the next school day). Homework is practice for what we learned in school and should take no more than 20 minutes total time. If you have a specific question, or your child is frustrated, simply write a short note at the top of the workpage. Usually, there is more than one student experiencing the same problem!
I think this will help with "mix ups!"
Approved Remote Learning Link:
If during the 2022-23 school year we have approval to provide online learning for remote students, I will post the link below:
Great Activities for stay at home learning
