Thompson is Bad
Breaking Bad: to challenge conventions, to defy authority and to skirt the edges of the law. Basically what that means is these aren't like most other classes. We aren't afraid to try new things, make a little fun of ourselves (or others), or run around campus acting a little "off", all in the name of learning.

About Mr. Thompson

I've been teaching at West since 1994 (which is why I like Mr. Rowles so much. He's been here longer). I have a BS in Business Education with a minor in English (from Appalachian State University) and also hold my national board certification. I'm a member of the North Carolina Business and Information Technology Hall of Fame (2009), a former NC Executive Board Member, and FBLA Advisor of the Year (2008). I was the 2003 West Stanly High School and Stanly County Schools Teacher of the Year, and in 2010 I won the Orus B. Sutton Award as the NC Business and Information Technology Teacher of the Year. So yeah, I know what I'm doing.

Lest you think I'm just some kind of teaching/computer nerd (hold your comments!), I'm also the varsity boys basketball coach. I'm married to my lovely wife Emily (who teaches middle school art at Cannon School in Concord) and we have a pug named Ivey(who does not teach art). In my spare time, you'll find me working in my yard or on a boat somewhere.

Feel free to contact me via email at john.thompson@stanlycountyschools.org, or by phone at (704) 781-8960 (you may leave a message or text this number as well).
