The Transportation Department takes great pride in operating one of the safest transportation systems in the state. We transport approximately 50% of our entire student enrollment everyday, for 180 days. SCS operates a fleet of 100 school buses serving 20 schools across our 404 square mile county and logging almost 1.3 million miles each year. Every bus driver must undergo 3 days of classroom training designated by the NC DMV plus 3 days of "Behind The Wheel" training and obtain a DOT medical physical in order to obtain their Commercial Drivers License and

P & S endorsements.

As each new school year begins and after long holiday breaks, we ask that citizens of Stanly County watch out for children who ride the school bus. Especially in the mornings and afternoon hours, always be extra cautious when approaching a yellow school bus. If you are not familiar with the laws governing when you are required to stop for a school bus, please click on the link to the left that will illustrate when you need to stop. On behalf of the entire transportation staff, we welcome you to Stanly County Schools and look forward to serving your transportation needs.
