The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as part of a regular liturgy of the church.  It is a joyful occasion for the congregation to welcome its newest member, and the whole church will share responsibility for the individuals future Christian education.
  • Holy Baptism is appropriately administered within the Eucharist as the chief service on a Sunday or on the following feasts days:

  •     The Easter Vigil
        The Day of Pentecost
        All Saints’ Day
The Sunday after All Saints’ Day
The Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany)

It is recommended that, as far as possible, Baptisms be reserved for these occasions or when a bishop is present.
The season of Lent is a time of reflection and penitence. Therefore, Baptism is not offered during the season of Lent.

Confirmation is the adult affirmation of the vows made in Baptism either by the candidate or his/her Godparents.

When there are candidates for Confirmation, we hold confirmation classes - usually during Lent.
The Confirmation is scheduled by the Bishop and takes place either at his visit to St. Andrew's or at the Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
