Mr. Copeland was hired in May 2012 to be the Director of Bands for Stamford I.S.D.  He began teaching in 1993 as the Director of Bands at Haskell C.I.S.D.  After teaching in Haskell for 9 years, Mr. Copeland made the move to Glen Rose I.S.D.  At Glen Rose, Mr. Copeland was an assistant band director and the woodwind specialist.  He was in charge of the junior high band program.  Mr. Copeland, when hired, was the high school choir director.  Later, he was also given the responsibility of directing the junior high choir.  Mr. Copeland completed 10 years of service to the Glen Rose I.S.D. before coming to Stamford I.S.D.

Mr. Copeland met his wife, Michele, at Tarleton State University in 1989.  They married August 3, 1991.  They graduated from Tarleton State University.  Mr. Copeland has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education (1993).  Michele has a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant and Soil Science (1991) and a Masters of Science Teaching in General Agriculture (1993).  They have four children: Brian, Shelby, Peter, and Mallory.

Mr. Copeland is the worship leader at First Baptist Church in Stamford.  He enjoys all things music.  He also enjoys reading, fishing, hunting, and doing absolutely nothing at the family cabin outside of Eagle Nest, New Mexico.  He grew up in Erath County, attending 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade in Stephenville and 5th-12th at Dublin.  It is at Dublin that he gained his inspiration and calling to teach.  He was in the band, played football, ran track, was a member of the Student Council, and was selected to the National Honor Society.  While attending Tarleton, he participated fully in the band program, was active in the Baptist Student Ministries, was an Alumni Ambassador, the Fine Arts department senator, and even ran for student body vice-president.  A special highlight was receiving the John Tarleton Spirit Award.
