Welcome to Garden Ridge Gator Music!

Courtney Seale has been the Music Specialist at Garden Ridge Elementary for 13 years! She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas. Mrs. Seale was elected the 2015-2016 Garden Ridge Elementary Teacher of the Year, and was an elementary finalist for District Teacher of the Year. A choral music enthusiast, she continues to be an active choral musician in the Denton Bach Society. She has also served as a keyboardist and vocalist on the Worship Ensemble as well as the children's chorus director at her church. Courtney, and her husband, Doug, reside in Corinth. They have two sons, Ethan and Davin, and a daughter named Claire. The also have two dogs, Spot and Bentley.

Mrs. Seale teaches a curriculum that includes Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze learning strategies in order to help foster a variety of musical experiences, and to develop music literacy in her students. When students attend music class they participate in singing, listening activities, movement and dancing, drama, a variety of instrument playing, and composition activities. Through these activities they develop social skills, higher order thinking skills, concentration and focus skills, self-discipline and motivation, and teamwork skills as well as personal accountability. My desire is for my students  to develop an understanding of how music can bring joy and fulfillment to everyday life.

4th and 5th grade Gators are welcome to participate in the Gator Choir, an after school ensemble that rehearses for an hour once weekly, and is an extension of the students' classroom music education with a focus on choral rehearsal and performance skill development. A 2015 Texas Music Educator's Association Honor Choir, the choir has established a tradition of excellence!  The choir also competes in the NRH2O Music Festival every spring, and has always received the highest possible rating of Superior. The choir was selected as the Grand Champions by the judges of the 2017 music festival, and as the Runner-Up to Grand Champion in the 2018 music festival.

It is a privilege and a blessing for Mrs. Seale to make and share music with her students!!!
