About the Director

The Longhorn Choirs of Lamar Middle School are designed to give you a well-rounded choral music experience. I will focus on helping each student and choir build skills and knowledge in order to “enjoy thriving, productive lives in a future they create.”

I cannot tell you how THRILLED I am to be the choir teacher at Lamar Middle School! It has been a long exciting journey to arrive at this point, but it was all worth the hard work and effort. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. After graduating high school, I attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City. I came back to Dallas to pursue a career in Musical Theater. However, I found that teaching was much more rewarding. I began teaching private voice lessons at several middle schools in the DFW area. I've continued teaching private voice for the past 15 years. I've also taught musical theater at Creative Arts Theater and School (CATS) in Arlington for 4 years. After teaching at CATS I knew I wanted to teach music for a living. I've spent the past 10 years completing my Bachelor’s degree at Texas Woman's University (TWU) for Music Education. I am so pleased to have graduated from TWU December of 2013, and completed my certification to teach. This is now my 4th year at Lamar MS and I could not be more honored to teach these amazing students! Now I live in Hickory Creek with my husband, Andre', and my 8 year old daughter Amelia.

As a member of the LMS Choirs, you will be a key part of helping this choral program succeed. You will be singing in many concerts, competitions, and other performances and you will also have opportunities to gain individual recognition through events such as the All-Region Choir, All-District Choir, and Solo & Ensemble. Along with participating in musical activities, students in the Longhorn Choirs will enjoy a broad range of social events, including parties!

Thank you for joining the LMS choir family! I am excited to work with you and I'm looking forward to many great musical experiences over the next year!

Go Longhorns!
