Water Cycle

As a an aquatics student, you should be able to identify the role of carbon, nitrogen, water, and nutrient cycles in an aquatic environment, including upwellings and turnovers; and examine the interrelationships between aquatic systems and climate and weather, including El Niño and La Niña, currents, and hurricanes.

The water cycle is closely linked to and functions successfully when there is balance in the carbon and nitrogen cycles---on a global scale and in a smaller scale, in an aquarium. 

  • THE HYDROLOGIC SYSTEM  includes the entire cycle (hydrologic cycle) of water movement on the Earth (be it on the surface or in the air). The driving force behind this cycle is the energy input from the sun.
