Media Enrichment Class

We will be working on programming with Google's CS First instruction in collaboration with MIT's Scratch - a block-based coding tool. Students will be working on different projects and create their own Scratch coding portfolio.

There are a number of individual projects and complete themes we can choose from, such as:

  • Storytelling
  • Music & Sound
  • Friends
  • Fashion & Design
  • Art
  • Sports
  • Game Design

"These themes are built around student interests and vary in complexity. They are designed to introduce students to core computer science concepts over several sessions. Each theme consists of eight activities and include roughly 10 - 12 hours of content. For each activity, students will watch a series of videos and create one coding project in Scratch with opportunities to personalize their work using “Add-Ons.”

Students typically work independently, but they are encouraged to collaborate with one another and share their work." 1.)

No previous computer or programming experience required. All materials are provided and students will have lots of help from Google’s online videos.
