Assistant Lecturer
Technical College of Engineering
Sulaimani Polytechnic University (SPU), Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Academic background:
PhD in Structural and Earthquake Engineering (2021–2025): Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany.
MSc in Structural Engineering (2015–2017): Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary.
BSc in Building Construction Engineering (2009–2013): University of Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Profile:
Dr. Baban Abdulwahid Bapir is an assistant lecturer at Sulaimani Polytechnic University. He earned a PhD in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany, with financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
His academic and research activities focus on structural and earthquake engineering, with particular emphasis on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, soil–structure interaction (SSI) under earthquake loading, and nonlinear constitutive modelling of structural materials. Through his research, he investigates the behavior of RC systems subjected to seismic actions and contributes to improving analytical and numerical modeling approaches for earthquake-resistant design. Dr. Bapir has teaching experience at several higher education institutions and has contributed to undergraduate engineering education through lectures and laboratory instruction.
Research Interests:
Structural and earthquake engineering
Seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures
