Mrs. Peterson

Hello, My name is Mrs. Peterson and I run the Kaler School Office. I have been here enjoying Kaler School for seven years. Before that I ran the office at Brown School for many years, was also a teacher aide at Brown, lunch aide at Small, and Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools for several years. That brings me almost to 30 years in the South Portland School Department.

In my personal life, I love to sing and belong to the Portland Community Chorus as well as the Magic of Christmas Chorus with the Portland Symphony Orchestra.

If I haven’t met you, please stop by the office and introduce yourself.

Here are some important things to remember about our day:

  • Please call in your student if he/she is going to be absent or tardy. I keep track of excused absences and tardies and these are permanently marked into our Infinite Campus Program. And, if your child will be late, please order lunch by 9:30 a.m. or their choice will be limited to a sandwich.
  • At the end of the day, from around 2:20 pm on, it gets quite busy in the school. So, please make sure that your child’s teacher has a note with his/her usual going-home routine and then separate notification if that routine changes on a particular day. If there is an unexpected change in those instructions, please make sure to call the office by 2:00 p.m. We have a series of checks and balances that ensure your child going home the correct way.
  • Telephone number and address changes should be updated constantly. Our systems of notification depend on us having the most recent changes. In an emergency this information is crucial.
