Course Description
This course is designed to strengthen each student's emotional and social skills, reading and writing skills. Throughout the year, we will concentrate on coping skills, grammar, spelling, writing compositions, reading strategies, and STAAR preparation.
Students are expected to follow all classroom rules. Classroom rules are unified throughout the building. At Claughton, students use the KEYSS program to develop social skills and TRIBES to build a community.

Tutorials:
Tutorials will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:45- 6:30 or by appointment. Students will need to be picked up properly by 6:20p.m. by a parent or guardian.
Grading:
On Grade – The grading will be divided into daily and major test grades. Daily assignments will weigh a total 60%, which will include warm-ups, class assignments, notebooks, journal writings, and homework. Major grades (all tests, projects, and major writing compositions) will also weigh 40%.
*A minimum of 10 daily grades and three major grades will be taken each six weeks in all classes.*
