I'm so excited to get to know each of you and start our learning adventure together. This year we have some work to do to accelerate our learning. The pandemic caused some learning disruptions and now it is time to push ourselves forward! I am here to assist you with accelerating your learning and most importantly your reading.
If you have any questions or concerns about your student's progress or behavior, please call and set up an appointment so we can discuss the issue. It is so important that parents and teachers work together for the success of your student!

READ READ READ!!!
Reading with your 5th grader will greatly improve their reading skills. We have many duplicate books and would be happy to send them home with you. Practice, Practice, Practice!!! That is the key to becoming a great reader!
Try setting aside 45 minutes each night
for your child to read and log it in their
reading log daily.
Research has shown that reading with students just 10 to 15 minutes a day makes a huge difference in your student's reading. Let them hear you read and then listen to them read. Make it fun. Ask questions about what they have read and especially about the meanings of words. With your support and encouragement at home, your student will leap forward in their reading skills.
Wish List (When we return to the classroom)
We are blessed with a classroom full of wonderful learning tools, but occasionally there are a few"bonus" items we'd like that would enable us to do fun projects. If you'd like to help, we'd be grateful!
With the flu and allergies we are in desperate need of tissue and disinfectant wipes.
If you are interested in volunteering at Beneke, please let me know. We have many opportunities this year for volunteers. You can pick up volunteer forms at the front desk. We appreciate the time and energy that you devote to our staff and students!
