What we are learning...

In December, we are studying poetry and energy. Outside of our DAL project we will be learning about geography and place value.

Project 3: Resources on Energy through Poetry

Driving Question: How might we design resources to help other students learn about heat, light, and sound energy?

Project Requirements:

a description of how rhyme, rhythm, and repetition interact to create images in poetry

an analysis (inference) of how words, images, graphics, and sounds work together in various forms to impact meaning

resource of an investigation of the effects on an object by increasing or decreasing amounts of light, heat, and sound energy

While completing this project, students will be learning...
  • Language Arts: describe how rhyme, rhythm, and repetition interact to create images in poetry; analyze how words, images, graphics, and sounds work together in various forms to impact meaning; make inferences about text using textual evidence to support understanding
  • Science: investigate the effects on an object by increasing or decreasing amounts of light, heat, and sound energy
Math and Social Studies are taught separately from our project in December.
  • Math: A use concrete models of hundreds, tens, & ones to represent a given whole number (up to 999) in various ways; use place value to read, write, & describe the value of whole numbers to 999; use place value to compare & order whole numbers to 999 & record the comparisons using numbers & symbols (<, =, >); use patterns in place value to compare & order whole numbers through 999; use whole numbers to locate & name points on a number line
  • Social Studies: locate and describe geographic features (bodies of water, land forms)
