What we are learning:
Math: addition, subtraction
Reading: digraphs-two letters that make one sound (th, sh, ch, ph), "Magic" e- the silent e which makes the first vowel scream its name, R-controlled vowel (er, ir, ur, ar), "bandit" Y (y at the end of words stealing the long e or i sounds), two vowels put together to make one sound (when 2 vowels go walking, the first one does the talking), two letters when put together make one sound: ai, ay, oi, oy , sight words, reading/writing poetry.
Writing: Writing simple sentences, writing all the phonemes they hear in a word, spelling sight words correctly, punctuation. Writing a story that makes sense, beginning, middle and end of a story.
Science: animals, their characteristics and animal classification
Social Studies: positional words, reduce, reuse, recycle
