CAMWS Latin Translation Contest

  • Take a look at the official flyer (including winners in 2015-2016)
  • This exam is open to all Latin students:
    • Latin II and Latin III students take the Intermediate Exam
    • Latin IV and Latin V students take the Advanced Exam
  • This exam will be given between Wednesday, November 30, 2:45-3:45 PM
  • Cost: $2.00 per student
  • Deadline to sign up: Friday, October 28. Registration begins on Monday, October 10.
  • Format: paper and pen/pencil
  • Awards:
    • Advanced Level:
      • top 10 most outstanding papers will each receive a $250 cash prize
      • additional 20 outstanding contestants will receive a book prize relevant to classical antiquity
      • up to 30 other writers of meritorious examinations will receive letters of commendation
    • Intermediate Level:
      • top 10 most outstanding papers will each receive a $50 cash prize
      • an additional 10 outstanding contestants will receive a book prize relevant to classical antiquity
      • up to 30 other writers of meritorious examinations will receive a letter of commendation
  • 40/40 point assignment for those who make an honest effort at taking the test; signifcantly more points available for those who place in the contest
