This August marked the celebration of 68th Independence day of India along with a lot of competitions like Deloitte Maverick, Amazon Ace Challenge and Mahindra War Room. Continuing with the tradition of bringing you the summary of all that transpired at SPJIMR in August, we bring you this month's edition of E-connect.

Chor Police

Back in the day before gaming took over the world, an evening spent playing "Chor-Police" or "Treasure-Hunt" was an evening well spent. Not only were these socially-accepted mediums of thinking and behaving like a criminal, but they challenged you both physically and mentally. And so, It was to bring back the best of old-school and give it a new,relevant take that led Marketing Area Committee (MAC ) to conduct a game of "Chor Police" on August 2nd as its first event in 2014. Interactive session on Fiscal Policy, Monetary Policy with Special Highlights

The morning of 7th August, 2014 witnessed an interactive session on Fiscal Policy and Monetary Policy conducted by the Eco Forum committee at SPJIMR. Six Thinking Hats Workshop

The ADMAP Committee kicked of its activity by organizing the 'Six Thinking Hats' Workshop for the entire batch. It was conducted by Mr. Suresh Mhatre, V.P, TCS LTD. Read more.  

Fact and Furious

The HR committee organized ‘Fact and Furious’ - a general Quiz competition on the 13th of August. The competition saw an overwhelming response with 17 enthusiastic teams of 3 or 4 members, fighting it out for the honors. Read more.  

Independence Day celebrations

Gripped with patriotic fervor and gaiety, the SPJIMR family observed India’s Independence Day, on the 15th of August. The tricolor was hoisted by the Director of the institute, Dr. Sesha Iyer. Read more.  

Dabang Patang

Entrecom organized a kite flying event "Dabang Patang" on the morning of Independence Day 2014 Read more.  

Macroeconomics Wrap Up

On 18th August, 2014, the SPJIMR auditorium was filled with students bubbling to know more about the details of macro-economics and looking forward to the “Macro-Economics Wrap-Up” that the EcoForum committee had scheduled. Read more.  

Photoshop Workshop

The Competitions Committee organized a workshop on Adobe Photoshop as a part of its knowledge transfer sessions. The event was conducted by two students of PGP-1, Pulkit Mathur and Sriram Chepuri Read more.

Consulting Session by Mr. Sandeep Biswas

It was yet another Saturday evening with a much anticipated holiday beckoning the students of SPJIMR. However a closer look showed a different picture, for there was a flurry of activity in the classroom. The entire PGP1 batch, it seemed, had assembled and the air was filled with palpable levels of excitement and anticipation. Why? PepsiCo Visit

The first Industry integration event took place on 28th August. It was an industry visit to PepsiCo Holdings India Pvt. Ltd factory in Mahul, Mumbai. The whole trip took about 6 hours. "Trivial Disasters" Play

It is a well known fact that collaborative art forms are powerful contexts for learning team skills. No wonder theatre has become a favourite pedagogic tool to unravel insights about every conceivable managerial skill. ADMAP Committee has been organizing visits to specially selected plays for a decade now to inculcate a taste for this art form. This year, the plan got a little more ambitious with the idea to take the interested participants to a play called 'Trivial Disasters' at the TATA NCPA theatre Read more.

The relationship between TATAs and SPJIMR were taken to a new high with DOCC hosting TATA ISES Season 7 on SPJIMR campus on 27.08.2014. SPJIMR shines at the ISB-Ivy Global Case Competition

Dr.Ashita Aggarwal Sharma and Ms.Lulu Raghavan won the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition 2014. Dr.Sharma's case “Mahindra 'Rise': A brand architecture decision,” co-authored with Ms.Raghavan is the winner of the Marketing Category for this year in the prestigious Global Case Competition. A team of six PGPM students emerged Semifinalists at the Google Online Marketing Challenge, a global competition that challenges students to create online marketing solutions for real brands using Google AdWords and Google+. Read more.
