It's no secret now that the web hosts the mnajority of human knowledge and understanding. However, we have to learn to use information on the web to make sure we're getting the right information for the right problem.

The internet allows anyone to connect to anyone else, providing an unlimited number of potential mentors and teachers. We can also connect and collaborate with each other in effective ways.

Authentic Tasks
Because of people and ideas being so easily connected, our ability to find and confront real-world problems greatly increases.

Self-Directed Learning
Children and adults use the internet to learn a variety of things that are important to them. Through tutorials, message boards, videos, and social media, people have many opportunities to learn new ideas. 
How can we encourage self-directed learning in our classrooms?

Blended Learning
Virtual systems, flipped learning,  and self-directed learning all allow for differentiated and personalized experiences for students. Data and products from this learning can be evaluated to make face-to-face instruction more focused and meaningful. 
How can we best use digitial and face-to-face learning to improve instruction?

Efficient Assessment for Data-Driven Decisions
Digital tools allow for quick assessment of student learning, including real-time data collection that can be used to drive instruction within the class period. Many tools and apps allow assessment built into a presentation or lesson.
