SOITA, in partnership with the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Educational Outreach WOW! Program, is offering free two-day workshops for K-8 educators featuring demonstrations and hands-on activities highlighting a variety of STEM focused tools and gadgets for the classroom. Participants will receive FREE class materials and will have the opportunity to purchase a semester hour of graduate credit from the University of Dayton following the workshop.

Put the WOW! into Your STEM Lessons

Description: Learn how to incorporate STEM into your classroom using materials like Cube-lets, littleBits, and Ozobots. We'll also discuss activities using our Circuitry kits while incorporating magnetism and electricity. Day two will feature the Makey Makey Invention Literacy Workshop for Educators - a fun, hands-on learning experience where you'll learn how to teach Invention Literacy, Making, and Design Thinking using the award-winning Makey Makey invention kit. We'll explore how to teach circuits and conductivity using Makey Makeys and then put our skills to use designing your own inventions!

Innovation Unplugged

Description: Interested in building a makerspace for your students, but struggling to find money in the budget? 3D Printers and laser cutters are great but the maker movement is about so much more than the tech! In Innovation Unplugged, we will discuss the principles at the core of the maker movement and explore ways you can use low cost supplies and items you likely already own to create your own makerspace that will excite your students.
