Summer Research Teacher Internship Focused on Advanced Materials and Manufacturing

Session Description: 
Next summer, Central State University, The Dayton Regional STEM Center, University of Dayton and Wright State University join forces to provide area K-12 teachers with a transformational STEM experience. Additionally, the program will be enhanced by a weeklong ASM bootcamp, industry and laboratory tours, presentation from engineers and scientists, instruction on curriculum design and numerous networking opportunities.
Presenter Bio:
Dr. Pinnell has taught in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UD since 1999. Her research interests include service-learning, K-12 STEM education and materials engineering and mechanical testing of materials, especially biological materials. She is Principal Investigator on two grants focused on K-12 STEM education.

Melissa Taylor is a Master's student at the University of Dayton in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, she conducts her research in the Engineering Wellness Through Biomechanics Lab. Melissa has also been a TA for Engineering Innovation and has served as a graduate assistant for a grant focused on STEM education.
