Getting Better Together and the Next Generation Science Standards

Session Description: 
This session focuses on free resources that are available for all educators to help address the demands of Next Generation Science Standards. Modules of instruction, Teaching Channel video resources, online professional learning communities as well as professional development opportunities will be discussed. This session will be interactive and will include an engineering design challenge.
Presenter Bio:
Tom Jenkins is a practicing middle school teacher at Greenon Local Schools in Enon, Ohio. He is currently the Boeing Science Laureate at the Teaching Channel. In the past, he has served at the Dayton Regional STEM Center in many capacities and has also been a NASA SOFIA Airborne Astronomy Ambassador.     

Heidi Steinbrink teaches physical science and is the Science Department Chair at Oakwood High School in Dayton.  Heidi was the Air Force Association’s 2011 State of Ohio Teacher of the Year, and the 2012 National Teacher of Year Runner-up. More recently Heidi was selected as a NASA SOFIA Ambassador and was able to fly two high altitude missions collecting valuable electromagnetic data.  Heidi has served as a STEM Fellow for a number of years and is the Executive Curriculum DIrector for Air Camp USA.
