2nd Annual Locals Only Competition Sponsored by Banger Brewing

Banger Brewing and SNAFU are proud to announce the LOBF Homebrewer of the Year Pro-Am competition.  Beers will compete in a “best of show” type qualifier on Saturday May 7, 2016, where the qualifying (6) entries will be poured at the Locals Only Beer Festival and the crowd will vote for their favorite beer.  The winning brewer of that beer will be dubbed “LOBF Homebrewer of the Year.”  The winning brewer will then have the chance to rebrew their winning beer at Banger Brewing with Banger brewers.  He or she will have their beer served in the Banger Brewing taproom, receive an award signifying the event, and (1) sixtel keg of their own beer to take home.  Runner up will receive (1) sixtel keg party at the brewery.

Entry Rules
The Banger Brewing Locals Only Beer Festival homebrew competition is available to Southern NV residents.  Limit (1) entry per brewer or brewing team.  Entries are due by Friday May 6, 2016.  Do not ship Entries by USPS.  They may be sent by UPS, FedEx, or may be dropped off at:

The competition is open to recognized ale and hybrid BJCP categories using the 2015 style guidelines: 10-22, 24-27, 29-34.

Entries must include:
•   (2) twelve to twenty-six ounce glass bottles, capped or corked.  Swing tops or screw caps may not be used.  If chosen for the qualifier, you must also be able to provide (1) five gallon homebrew keg at the event on Sat 5/14/2016.
•   The full recipe and process used including any measurements, gravity readings, ph readings, water profile, yeast handling practices, etc.  Please include the name of the beer if you have one.
•   A short bio of the homebrewer (how long have you been brewing, favorite styles to brew/drink, what got you into homebrewing, etc.)  Please include your full name, email, and phone number so that we may contact you if you are the winner.  Please put this on a separate piece of paper from the recipe, since judging will be anonymous.

Brewing Process
All beer must be produced using homebrew processes and techniques. Beers produced at brew on premise facilities or commercial breweries will not be allowed.  Sour mash, decoction mash, open fermentation, ice-distillation, or barrel aging may not be used.

If the winning beer is an extract or partial mash recipe, we reserve the right to make substitutions that will allow it to be brewed on Banger Brewing’s system.  

Beer must be an ale, or hybrid Saccharomyces fermentation.  Lagers, Brettanomyces, sours, ciders, meads, wines, distilled spirits may not be entered.

Ingredients should be readily available at your local homebrew supply store.  Extremely exotic or rare ingredients are discouraged.  Banger will do its best to use ingredients specific to the winning recipe.  However, if they are not commercially available at the time of brewing, substitutions may be made.  

Qualifying will take place on Saturday May 7, 2016 at Banger Brewing.  The top (6) qualifying entries will be served at the LOBF on Sat May 14, 2016, where a final winner will be chosen at the festival by crowd favorite.  The LOBF Homebrewer of the year will be announced Sat May 14, 2016 at the festival.
