When a student is absent they will take their spelling test the day they return to school.

Welcome to “Second Grade”!
Below you will find three selections of books for the incoming second grade class. Throughout the summer, have your child read one of the books listed below, complete the book review, and return on the first day of school. These books will be used throughout the year.
It is important to reinforce reading skills on a weekly basis. Of course, the most important avenue to your child’s reading success
is sharing the book with them. While they read, discuss the story content, vocabulary, and ask questions to see how well they are
absorbing the main idea and details. These activities will definitely help to produce excellent readers!
I hope your summer will be rewarding and relaxing. It will be my great pleasure to have your child in Second Grade and I know we will enjoy a wonderful year!
