Election Information

School Board Elections - November 7, 2017

Four-year terms for three (3) members of the Smoky Valley USD 400 Board of Education will expire in January of 2018.  The positions are:

 

Board Member District No. 1 – (Position 4)

(commonly termed “Western Rural”)

Includes the cities of Marquette, Falun and Smolan.  

North and west of a line beginning at Overland Rd. and 8th Ave., north on 8th Ave. to Hwy. #4, east on Hwy. #4 to 13th Ave. (Burma Rd.), north on 13th Ave. to the northern most part of the Lindsborg City limits, east along the city limit line, to Hwy. #81, northeast on Hwy. #81 to the Saline County line (school district line).

 
 

Board Member District No. 2 – (Position 5)

(commonly termed “South Lindsborg & Eastern Rural”)

Includes the southern portion of the City of Lindsborg, and eastern rural

South and east of a line beginning at Overland Rd. and 8th Ave., north on 8th Ave. to Hwy. #4, east on Hwy. #4 to 13th Ave. (Burma Rd.), north on 13th Ave. to Lincoln St., east on Lincoln St. to Third St., north on Third St. to State St., east on State St. to Washington St., north on Washington to Saline St., east on Saline to the eastern most portion of the Lindsborg city limits.  District #2 also includes all rural east of Lindsborg City and east of Hwy. #81, extending north to the Saline Co. line (school district boundary).

 
 

Board Member District No. 3 – (Position 6)

(commonly termed “North Lindsborg”)

Includes the northern portion of Lindsborg (not rural)

North of a line from 13th Ave. (Burma Rd.) and Lincoln St., east on Lincoln St. to Third St., north on Third St. to State St., east on State St. to Washington St., north on Washington St. to Saline St., east on Saline St. to the eastern most portion of the Lindsborg City limits.  District #3 includes the Emerald Lake area. 


 

Voting

The member-district method Plan B will be used in voting on candidates for these positions as set forth in K.S.A. 72-8003.  All electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the member district may vote in the primary election for the member positions of such member district and for the at-large member position.  All electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the school district may vote in the general election for all member positions, including the at-large member position, to be filled.
