Wine & Moonbeams

The Perseid Meteor Shower in early August is the time for our annual astronomy festival, Wine & Moonbeams.   We have paired this event with our Sunset Saturday music series, creating the Wine & Moonbeam edition of Sunset Saturday.

We encourage folks & families to come out. Bring lawn chairs, blankets & a picnic to lay back and watch the show in the sky. Enjoy music on the red-light porch and taste our wines as the evening fades away, then it's enjoying the 60 meteors per hour of the shower or a stroll down into our dark-sky area in the vineyard for a peek through telescopes and an astronomy lecture by talented star-storyteller Jim Schauberger.

Bring flashlights, with red filters or red saran wrap over them if you can.

Kids free & warmly welcomed but this is a working farm in the dark so keep your children supervised at all times.

If mother nature gives us an evening lunar eclipse or comet we'll occasionally have an extra Wine & Moonbeams too.

The state of Virginia will not allow us to have outside alcohol, and if they catch other alcoholic drinks on the premises or in a guests cooler they can give us a nice big fine for it.
So we trust you will understand that those found with outside alcohol will be asked to leave.
Heck, we like beer a lot and we can't even drink it ourselves on the winery grounds. Odd law, go figure.
