Welcome to Mrs. Burns' Health & Physical Education Website.

The St. Theresa’s Health & Physical Education department has designed its courses based on the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum Expectations to meet the individual needs and interests of our students.

Each program in the Health & Physical Education department is developed to ensure that there is a high correlation among overall physical fitness, academic achievements, and specifically the way students feel and see themselves. Healthy, active students usually manage stressful situations in a more positive way than other students.

The body responds positively to physical activity, which impacts the muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems. This results in positive health outcomes, including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease (including heart attack and stroke), several types of cancer, diabetes, as well as other health conditions. Those who participate in regular physical activity experience many health and wellness benefits including:
