The nature of human wellbeing is a "big question" for human existence. Today, a reductionist science often is the model for human understanding. Human wellbeing is thought of in a piecemeal way. The flourishing of a person cannot be adequately nurtured by a reductionist, schiziod approach. This project addresses the question of the holistic nature of human wellbeing. Physical and psychological pain disrupt wellbeing in differing ways, but we hope to learn much more about the holistic nature of human wellbeing in this study. To do so, we will be examining the neurobiological and medical aspects of wellbeing, as well as the sociological, narrative, and philosophical, and theological aspects.
