Ronald A. Mercier
Associate Professor of Theological Studies
Saint Louis University
I grew up in Holyoke Massachusetts, the youngest of three siblings and therefore blessed with a close family. This positive experience made my move into the Jesuit fraternity a natural development, expanding my family experience round the globe.
Immediately upon completion of my studies at the University of Toronto with a Doctor of Theology degree, I began my teaching career at Regis College, the Jesuit Faculty of Theology of the University of Toronto. Over the course of many years, I have taught more courses in more subjects than I can count. I served as Dean of Regis College (1995-2005), and was Chair of the Theology Department of the Toronto School of Theology (1999-2001).
From 2006-2009, I served the Jesuit provinces of Maryland, New England and New York as first Executive Director of the Jesuit Collaborative, an initiative in Ignatian spirituality.
In January, 2010, I began my service as Associate Professor of Ethics in the SLU Department of Theological Studies with a focus on healthcare ethics.
