1818 Statistics Day
Using R for introductory statistics
Dr. Bryan Clair and Dr. Darrin Speegle
Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 8am - 12:30pm
R is the leading tool for statistics and data analysis. It is free, open source software, which runs on all major operating systems, and it has a large community of users. SLU has standardized all upper level courses in the statistics program to use R, and is piloting the use of R in the Math 1300 Elementary Statistics with Computer course.
In this hands-on workshop, we cover enough of R to begin teaching elementary statistics with R as your primary computing tool. We will discuss installation, data import and export, data manipulation and visualization, statistical inference, simulations, and more.
You should have a solid understanding of statistics to attend this workshop, and ideally bring your own laptop to work on.
