Prior to arriving at the Department of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University in the Fall of 2012, I taught for two years at the Saskatoon Theological Union, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Before that I completed graduate studies at Trinity Western University (M.A. 2003), the University of Oxford (M.St. 2004), and Duke University (Ph.D. 2010).
My research interests focus on the rise of Christianity particularly as it relates to early Judaism. I focus on questions related to ethnicity and identity construction in order to better understand the way in which ancient religions functioned. I have published a number of peer-reviewed articles on the Hebrew Bible, early Judaism, and the New Testament, all of which deal with the construction of identity in antiquity.
