Parent-Teacher Conferences
Fall parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Wed., Oct. 17, 12:30 - 4 p.m. and 5 - 8 p.m., and Thurs., Oct. 18, 12:30 - 5 p.m. To conference with a teacher, you must sign up online (see links below for each day). The online signup will open midnight Friday, Sept. 28 and will close midnight Sunday, Oct. 14. Book Fair - Save the Date
Mark Saturday, November 3 on your calendar! We will be holding a Book Fair to support the Skutt Catholic media program. Stop by the Barnes and Noble store on Oakview Drive between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. to get an early start on your holiday shopping. When you shop, tell the cashier that you are there to support Skutt Catholic, and a portion of your purchase will help purchase books and materials for the student center. We are planning some special activities for the day. Watch for more details in the Weekly Communication.

Memorial Mass

Scheduled for November 4, this special Mass is set to honor the beloved deceased members of the Skutt Catholic family who passed away from January 1, 2017 to September 20, 2018.

RSVP to Lucy Smith (lucysmith@skuttcatholic.com) by October 28 if you plan to attend.  We want to ensure your comfort with ample seating and refreshments.

SkyHawks in the City
Join your classmates in a weekend of service in Omaha. Possible service sites include Open Door Mission, VSP Club, Heartland Hope Mission, and more! 

TIMES: After school Friday through Sunday approx. 1:30 p.m.

DATES: November 16-18, 2018 or March 29-31, 2019

COST: $150, includes all meals, transportation, and lodging at the Columban Fathers Retreat Center. (Includes $75 non-refundable deposit.) 

WHO: All Skutt Catholic students are invited to participate! This will be led and organized by Julie Schmitz and other SC Faculty and Staff.

Spots usually fill quickly, so please sign up as soon as possible.  Registrations will be taken in the order they are received as follows: 
1) Students who have not participated in a SkyHawks in the City weekend. 
2) After one week, any open spots will be filled with past participants.

How to register:
1. Interested students complete this Google form (opens October 1)
2. Bring in a $75 non-refundable deposit check to the Service Office in Campus Ministry made out to Skutt Catholic High School with SkyHawks in the City 2018-2019 in the memo.
3. Remaining balance (total cost is $150) will be paid via FACTS and invoiced at the end of October.

Skutt Catholic 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
Skutt Catholic is hosting 3-on-3 boys and girls basketball tournaments for grades 4 - 8 on October 20. Click HERE for additional details and to register online.

HOSA Registration

HOSA, a state and nationally recognized activity that explores opportunities for healthcare careers meets once a month at 7:10 a.m. on a Friday. This month we will be meeting on October 12.

Registration for HOSA will continue until October 12. Once a student registers, the cost of $50 will be charged to the family FACTS account. This money covers the national and state dues as well as the cost of a t-shirt. Registration for HOSA can be done through Google Classroom. Please see Mrs. Brockhouse or Mrs. Wawers if you need the Google Classroom code.

School Directory App

The Skutt Catholic Skyhawk Association is excited to announce its second year of offering an online school directory of current families through DirectorySpot. With DirectorySpot, users can access the Skutt Catholic directory right from a smartphone or computer.

If you are a returning family and signed up for DirectorySpot last year, you will continue to have access this year for no additional cost. If you are a new Skutt Catholic family or a returning family who did not sign up last year, you can sign up now for only $25. CLICK HERE to sign up for the DirectorySpot app. The $25 will be added to your Skutt Catholic FACTS account and will be billed on your next monthly statement.

Cheer Raffle - Homecoming

The cheerleaders will be raffling off a Yeti Tundra 65 Cooler and a $100 gift card to fill it! We will be selling tickets until the Friday, October 5 Homecoming game. The winner will be drawn at halftime. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.  See any cheerleader to purchase a ticket, or look for the cheerleaders selling tickets at the home football games leading up to Homecoming!

Senior Photo Submission Guidelines

Please submit or have your photographer submit senior photos by October 31, 2018. Photos submitted after this date will not be guaranteed publication in the yearbook.

You may go to any photographer you choose…
However, the photograph submitted for use in the yearbook must meet the following specifications to the satisfaction of the yearbook adviser. Please take the specifications with you to your photo shoot to make sure your photographer is aware of the requirements.

Specifications: 

  • Photos should be four-color digital images, submitted electronically. 
  • Photos should be high-resolution 300 dpi, jpg or png file saved in an RGB format. 
  • The photo should be cropped and resized to a vertical, wallet-size photo (approximately 2.5 X 3.5). Please leave 1/8 of an inch between the top of the head and the top of the picture. 
  • The background should not be distracting and should contrast with the student’s clothing color. 
  • The student’s pose should be a head and shoulders shot. Avoid extreme angles and hands in the photo. 
  • No props or hats are allowed. No items should appear in front of the student (i.e. car, tree trunk, fence, etc.). 
  • The standard to be observed is attire of an individual’s choice that is in good taste and appropriate for a Catholic school. 
  • All photos are subject to standards of what is reasonable according to the discretion of the Skutt Catholic Administration.
Note: Photos may need to be cropped by the yearbook staff to insure uniformity of size. Hands and arms will be cropped as necessary since head and shoulder shots are requested. If photos are not approved for publication, parents will be notified.

Electronic Submission Instructions: 

Once the photo has been saved to the specifications above: 
  • Name the file with the student’s name. (Last_First.jpg, Example: Drummond_Sandra.jpg)

Spring Break 2019 in Italy


Imagine a spring break with your classmates as you discover the Italian culture and visit places you have studied about. This could be you in March 2019 as we tour Italy on the spring break trip! 

This trip is open to current sophomores '21, juniors '20, and seniors '19 and is almost full. We have been able to add five more spaces to the trip, but they will go fast! If you have been thinking that you missed out on this great trip, there are now spaces available. 

We are traveling with a trusted educational travel company with offices all over the world. Student safety and a fantastic educational experience are their top priorities.
