Hello! My name is Mrs. Rebecca Sullivan. I am currently 25 years old, and this is my 3rd year teaching in the state of Alaska. I received my Bachelors of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary where I worked closely with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundations to major in History with a focus on Revolutionary studies and Historical Archeology. In 2013, I went on to receive my Masters of Education with a focus in Secondary Social Studies from the Graduate School of Education, also at the College of William and Mary.
I have previously taught in New Kent County High School, Virginia, as well as at McQueen Middle High School in Kivalina, Alaska.
I originally hail from Richmond, Virginia, though I enjoy traveling and moving from place to place. My husband and I are loving Skagway! My hobbies include music, photography, and cooking.
I am a highly qualified certified teacher in both the states of Virginia and Alaska. I will recieve my 5 year Professional Teaching Certificate from the state of Alaska in 2017. My focus pertains to Social Studies. I am qualified to teach US History, US Government, Alaska History, Economics, World History, Western Civilization, Ancient Civilization, and Geography.
While I did not major in Vocational Education in college, I have had extensive exposure to carpentry and culinary arts throughout my life, whether it be building houses for Habitat for Humanity, or Managing Safe Service at restaurants up and down the East Coast. My ideology concerning Vocational Education is the following: Trade jobs are fulfilling and provide a stable source of income. Even if your child is not interested in pursuing a trade job, the skills they will learn in our program will provide them with basic understandings of power tools, car maintenance, engineering, cooking, and more! These skills help prepare adolescents for independence and self reliance!
