Dear Kindergarten Families,

Well, we are already off and running in January, and I’d like to share some news about what we are up to!

Language Arts:

This month, in addition to our continually study of letters and letter sounds, we will introduce the sounds th, sh and ch. This week, we will be adding the words into, get and gets to our sight word list.

Math:

We will be learning how to place the numbers 1 through 10 on a number line, as well as continue studying 1 more, 1 less, and 2 more and 2 less.

Social Studies:

We will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his contributions to our country.

Science:

We will learn the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as the definition of a mammal.

Social Learning:

Probably the most exciting lesson of the week, we will be introducing the character Superflex to teach us about the POWER OF FLEXIBLE THINKING!

Superflex is a superhero who uses the power of flexible thinking to destroy “The Unthinkables.” The first “Unthinkable” he will destroy is Rock Brain. Please see the sheet for more information on Rock Brain and get ready to see your kindergartener turn amaze you with their super powers!

As always, please don’t hesitate to come to me with any questions/concerns.

Smiles and Laughter,

Ms. Michaela
